Dell Outlet is a salesroom for customer returns from Dell. Systems that have been returned, either because the customer decided that he or she no longer wanted the system, or because there was a problem with the system. These systems cannot be sold as new again, so Dell sells them in the outlet. Dell retests all systems to ensure they meet the original factory specifications, so you can be confident when you purchase from the Outlet.

To save money! Systems at the outlet often sell for hundreds of dollars less than the normal prices.

OutletScanner is an application that assists in shopping at the Dell Outlet. Systems are periodically added to the Dell Outlet inventory pages. The OutletScanner automatically checks the inventory pages every 30 seconds to see if there are any systems that match what you are looking for. When a system is found, it will automatically start the first step to adding the system to your cart. This happens very fast, so you have a better chance at getting the best systems (If it's a great deal, others are probably trying to add it to their cart as well!).

Basically it is just a powerful means of searching for only the systems with parameters that you would like.

Below is a sample listing of what is displayed in a system listing on the Outlet inventory page:

Choose what you want in a system, say, a Dell XPS system with XP Media Center, and a Geforce 6800 video card.

From left to right, put the parameters in the regular expression box, separated by a .*

so for the example above you could use:
XPS.*Media Center 2005.*GeForce 6800
